Over the past few months, I been brainstorming and researching on something i can do to make a “difference” to a man and a woman! A  couple whether married, divorce, homosexual, lesbian, black, white, etc. whatever. I really believe that if I can provide something of what I know to help secure a solid relationship, then why not put it on a website on my own!!!

So over the next few weeks, I’m going to create and put up something very special and creatively unique to suit the needs of one and many others so they can take something back with them to utilize in the near future.

And believe you me, it will put a bend on making a relationship and will keep it there maybe the whole duration.

…and yes, I’m going to send out emails, forums and an electronic magazine on the subjects at hand!!

FREEMASONS FREEMASONS!!! WOW!!! I never wanted to know about that part of society that is controlling and becoming this powerful organization huh??

But I do know this about the Freemason: THERE IS NO LEADER!!! NO TRUE ONE LEADER!!!!  

Most would agree that Freemasonry is an organization whose members are concerned with moral and spiritual values, self-improvement, and helping their communities with charitable endeavors. Masons (synonymous with Freemasons) take oaths to be good to their Brothers in Masonry, their families, and all people. They are taught that we are part of the brotherhood of man, under the fatherhood of God.

Some of the often-used definitions are that, “Freemasonry is an organization that takes good men and makes them better,” or that it is, “A system of morality, veiled in secrecy, and illustrated by symbols.” Its principal tenets are brotherly love, relief, and truth. Its goal is the universality of mankind, with all will act towards others as we want them to act towards us, and with faith in the social, eternal, and intellectual progress of mankind.

Masonry is also sometimes called a “great quest for light and knowledge” that deals with the “intellectual, moral, and spiritual values of life.” To achieve these goals, “freedom of thought, speech, and action belongs to every man.”

Freemasonry is open to men of any race or religion who believe in a Supreme Being and who are judged to be of good reputation and character. It is the inner qualities of men — their characters — that are important, not external characteristics or indications of wealth or poverty.

While it requires candidates to express a belief in a Supreme Being, Freemasonry is not a religion or a substitute for religion, and it has no theology, dogma, or path to salvation. Each Mason follows his own faith. Altars in masonic lodges are places where the charter of the lodge and the Bible are placed. In addition to the Bible, in lodges that include men who believe in a different holy book, their “Volume of the Sacred Law” is also placed on the altar.God is often referred to as the Great Architect of the Universe, to permit men of all religions to meet and pray in a spirit of toleration.

Tolerance is basic in Freemasonry. Masons are taught to respect the beliefs and opinions of all people. “Whenever you are an enemy of bigotry or intolerance, you live the teachings of Freemasonry.”

Freemasonry teaches lessons to members using the traditions and symbols of medieval stonemasons’ guilds, and follows many of their traditions in such things as the titles of officers: Grand Master, Grand Marshal, Chaplain, Grand Pursuivant, Worshipful Master, Senior and Junior Wardens, Deacons, Stewards, and others.
Being “initiated” into Freemasonry means receiving the three “degrees” of Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, and Master Mason. Degrees are short ritual dramas based on the building of King Solomon’s Temple. They teach Masons, using symbolism and allegories, “build” their characters just as stonemasons built King Solomon’s Temple.

PRINCE HALL (CENTER)

According to the Phylaxis Society, an international Masonic organization dedicated to the life of Prince Hall and Prince Hall Freemasonry, Prince Hall was an African born around 1738. He was taken into slavery and ended up in New England. He was freed by William Hall, and may have taken his last name from William’s family. Other historians argue that Prince Hall was a servant, and that William Hall documented Prince’s status as a free man.

It’s not that difficult to find out who is and who isn’t a Prince Hall Mason. Like other Masonic traditions, Prince Hall Freemasonry is able to claim notable businessmen, politicians and entertainers as members. Freemasonry embraces the basic idea of allowing every man to think for himself and to expand his knowledge. Thus, Masonic lodges have been a meeting place for men of open minds, Voltaire, Mozart, and many others. Thus, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, and other Founding Fathers of the United States were Masons, and the ideals of Masonry and those of the United States are similar: freedom of speech, religion, and thought. Nothing special really was going on that morning, right……..until a big boom was heard around the heartland of the Western part of the United States of America and the deadliest attack in U.S. history at that time!!! 

The Oklahoma City bombing was a bomb attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City on that day by Timothy McVeigh, an American militia movement sympathizer who detonated an explosive-filled truck parked in front of the building. McVeigh’s co-conspirator, Terry Nichols, had assisted in the bomb preparation. It was the most destructive act of terrorism on American soil until the September 11, 2001 attacks. The Oklahoma blast claimed 168 lives, including 19 children under the age of 6, and injured more than 680 people. The blast destroyed or damaged 324 buildings within a sixteen-block radius, destroyed or burned 86 cars, and shattered glass in 258 nearby buildings. The bomb was estimated to have caused at least $652 million worth of damage.

Motivated by his hatred of the federal government and angered by what he perceived as its mishandling of the Waco Siege (1993) and the Ruby Ridge incident (1992), McVeigh timed his attack to coincide with the second anniversary of the deaths at Waco. Within 90 minutes of the explosion, McVeigh was stopped by Oklahoma State Trooper Charlie Hanger for driving without a license plate and arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon. Forensic evidence quickly linked McVeigh and Nichols to the attack; Nichols was arrested, and within days both were charged. Michael and Lori Fortier were later identified as accomplices. Extensive rescue efforts were undertaken by local, state, federal, and worldwide agencies in the wake of the bombing, and substantial donations were received from across the country. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) activated eleven of its Urban Search and Rescue Task Forces, consisting of 665 rescue workers who assisted in rescue and recovery operations.

Frankly, that goes against what I believe in elected official’s responsibility is to its’ constituents and the American people. I began looking into alternative methods of communication. In this production and documentary, what we do is offer you eyewitnesses and experts and let you draw your own conclusion about what really took place in Oklahoma City on April 19th.”

A variety of conspiracy theories have been proposed about the events surrounding the bombing. Some theories allege that individuals in the government, including President Bill Clinton, knew of the impending bombing and intentionally failed to act on that knowledge. Other theories focus on the possibility of additional explosives within the building and additional conspirators involved with the bombing.  Additional theories claim the bombing was done by the government to frame the militia movement or to provide the impetus for new antiterrorism legislation while using McVeigh as a scapegoat. Experts have disputed the theories and government investigations have been opened at various times to look into the theories.

The versatile popular actor we know simply as Will Smith has made an immediate impact on the entertainment culture.

 From his days as a Philadelphia rapper along with his childhood friend, Jeffrey Townes (DJ Jazzy Jeff), to his days as a popular TV personality on the NBC hit show, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, and to his amazing music/ film career from action hero to serious drama Oscar nominated acting, along with his marriage to Jada Pinkett, Will Smith someway somehow has made a lasting impression into the pop culture of entertainment. There is no one like him because he’s in a class by himself.

And very smart and sensitive of his work might I add. I decided to blog on Big Willie Style for more so of his reasons of his long-term success in the media market in a world today where there’s a certainty of negativity and discord within the spotlight. Somewhere in this popular world of entertainment, sports, politics, and the view of self-preservation, there’s always gonna be a hungry based story of when, where, why and how of one’s story of deceit, drug addiction, deception, a bad comment, an outrage to the public, divorce, jail time, beliefs, etc. based on every move you make.

But for some reason, Will Smith has never been on any of these categories that is mentioned above. Besides the Scientology belief that all has their opinion on, he essentially persevered through it all. Amazing man and family!!

We make things much harder and more complex than they need to be. We look for the newest “ray of hope” to help us decide what needs to be done in order to succeed when all it takes is a conscious decision to never become satisfied with the “status quo”.

The principles learned from the Law of Attraction and many other sources are helpful, but in many cases we waste time and effort learning all there is about the technique instead of applying what we have learned. Now Wow, so many martial arts action movie star today and from yesterday! I mean Jackie Chan, Jason Stratum, Jet Li, Steven Segal, Chuck Norris, Cynthia Rothrock, Rampage Jackson, Jean Claude Van-Damme, JimKelly, just to name a few.

Bruce Lee was the Einstein of the physical fight world. His Son Brandon was a promising successor, I highly recommend brandons film, “The Crow” (1993), to watch for action and the alike entertainmentof his father.

Bruce Lee was inarguably the greatest martial arts star of his generation, and his intense on-screen charisma and astounding fighting skills make him the standard by which other martial arts heroes are measured.

Bruce Lee: A Warrior’s Journey is a documentary about Lee’s life, career, and untimely death, which uses rare behind-the-scenes footage to paint a portrait of both the star the world knew and the man behind the image. Bruce Lee: A Warrior’s Journey also includes rare, recently discovered film shot for Game of Death, the project Lee was working on at the time of his death.

Directed by John Little, this is a documentary which pays homage to the pure mayhem and fury of the myth/man Bruce Lee! Moreover, it contains the most astonishing scenes from the Game of Death. It shows the scenes how Bruce intended them, and I must say it is awesome to say the least! Whereas the original Game of Death movie almost even manages to ruin the Bruce Lee material (not to speak of the rest of the movie, which is worthless) this new material is mindblowing and real! For example, you can see the Korean Haikido masters lips move in the original Game of Death but there is no speech! Here you hear what he says, and you hear Bruce Lee’s comments and thoughts. Such as: “Give him the fatigue bombing!” and wonderful dialogue such as Karim: “You must have given up the hope of living” “On the contrary, I don’t let the thought of death bother me”, and “I hope you don’t mind that we move our man so the two of us have more time to groove!” Moreover, they call each other “baby” all the time. It is truly awesome. The rest of the biography is also good but what makes this a real classic is the remake of Game of Death.

This documentary marks the first time the surviving Game of Death material has been assembled according to Lee’s script notes, in an attempt to honor Lee’s ambitious intentions for the film.

Bruce Lee: A Warriors Journey focuses on Bruce’s rise to fame in both the Martial Arts world and the film world. It explores his struggles against prejudice in Hollywood. On top of all that Bruce’s original vision for The Game of Death is revealed. His original script is uncovered. Completely different from the released version. This was going to be the film that finally focused on Bruce’s personal philosophy.

The real gem of this documentary comes at the end. For the first time. The full thirty minutes of Bruce’s lost footage for the Game of Death is revealed and let me tell you it’s glorious to behold. These thiry minutes featuring some of the greatest martial arts I’ve ever seen on film. If there ever was any reason to think that Bruce Lee was the master it’s proven in this footage. Had he lived to finish the film it could of possibly been his masterpiece.

Early Documentary Films

The earliest form of documentary films were created by Gheorghe Marinescu in the late 19th century, as he documented science in his neurology clinic in Bucharest between 1898 and 1901. These films were the first films to show real life on film and the trend carried on, as John Grierson coined the term documentary in 1926. By this point in time, filming reality encompassed non-fictional films, including instructional films. These films were also called ‘actuality’ films.

Functions of the film (documentary):A documentary film can be seen to function as a prophet – explorer – painter – advocate – bugler – prosecutor – observer – catalyst – guerrilla – performer – therapist – spin doctor.

Modernized Documentary Films (1960′s-2010)

In terms of reporting, the newsreel tradition became highly popular as it consisted of re-enacting events and news shortly after they had occurred, as part of a newscast. These types of traditions are also seen in the late 20th century and early 21st century in terms of newscasts that report accidents and crime scenes, or the documentary series 48 Hours, where re-enactments are often used to show the events.

Following closely, was the propaganda tradition which was mostly used when trying to persuade an audience to support an idea or stand. At times, this is done through creating awareness on any given topic, but mostly done to present an idea and supporting arguments, as to why one should support this idea. This is seen during the 1960’s and 1970’s when documentaries were often used as political weapons, such as fighting capitalism and politics.

Henrik Juel, a professor at about situations that can make a documentary a realism of a genre:

“A film is not a mere representation, but a willed presentation of something made by someone in a specific way and for someone. The phrase “representation of reality” is utterly mistaken as a definition of documentary, because the idea of film as mirroring is a false one and a very misleading ideal. Also the term “reality” is confusing: it may have the straightforward positive connotations of facing reality and seeing things as they really are, but often enough it is interpreted by students in theoretical discussions as just filming “normally” in an “objective” way without being creative or manipulative. Just the facts…. But trying to make “a correspondence with actual facts” and “objective and neutral reproduction” the core characteristics of documentary is naïve in the sense that it has the same weaknesses as philosophical positivism. To believe that reality is made up first by objective facts and secondly by subjective or personal sentiment is to make you yourself blind and deaf to the prevailing power structures and ideologies of this world. “Let us stick to the facts and not be subjective and emotional” – that is the anxious mantra of those not wanting or daring to work for any change or a proper overview and perspective on things.”

Truth and creativity
This however does not mean that it is all right to disregard facts or to tell a lie in a non-fiction film. But it must be noted that the “truth” of a film can be understood in other ways. A lot of facts or statements about facts that can be verified may be present even in a fiction film. The whole story may be pure fantasy, the characters fictitious and the behavior of the actors may consist of incredible stunts – but still the film may be striving for “truth” in another sense of the word: true emotions and perhaps even to illustrate some more general truths about human life.

Lacking a good definition of its essence, it could be an idea to look at the etymology and history of the term. The word documentary has its root in the Latin word “docere” which meant to teach or instruct. We also know the more modern and common phrase that something is “a document” (e.g. an important piece of paper presented in court) and we may ask someone “to document” his identity or statements.

Throughout the following decades, documentary films began taking on traditions within the realm of film. It can be argued that this is because resources became readily available, technology within the field expanded and advanced, and there was a higher demand to document and film everything from movies to news.

 Narrative Terms

These are possible strategies for the narrative form of that documentary set-up::　

Intentions of the filmmaker: enthusiasm and commitment, the filmmaker wants to explore, to probe and to show us something important or otherwise overlooked; devoted to a cause or to people, trying to make a difference (not just making money, having fun or exposing herself).

Subject matter, themes or content: something of importance and relevance; historical, social or natural phenomena; persons and places of significance. (Note, however, that modern TV-audiences seem to find significance in what critics may call rather trivial “everyday documentaries”

Expectations of the (general) audience: authenticity, insight, disclosure, something about real people and problems, learning something.

Target groups (implied): general public (public service), or segments with a more specialized interest and knowledge on the subject in question.

Ethics: we expect truthfulness, not lies or distortion, even when the film is committed to high ideals and values. Propaganda is over the line (difficult to define too, my provocative suggestion is: “propaganda is a documentary made by my enemy”). The documentary may be engaged and enthusiastic, but should be open about its preferences, sympathies and presuppositions. “Neutrality” or “objectivity” should be understood as problematic, but a well-balanced view is welcomed. The film may reflect its own intervening and perhaps ethically problematic role in relation to participants and general context. Carefulness, but also boldness in addressing tabooed subjects.

Communicative function: to inform, discuss, engage, enlighten, intervene, explore, express, disturb and commit – more so than to merely entertain, amuse, distract, conform or confirm (e.g. a religious or political community).

Labeling: sponsors, critics, distributors, professionals, scholars, curators, librarians, editors of TV- and film-programs would characterize this as a documentary.

Popular, lay opinion, everyday language: films received and talked about in accordance with the tradition, similar to other so-called documentaries or non-fiction films.

Context of actual use: education, public service (as image or part of an obligation for the distributor), debate forum, campaigns, discussions and pastime entertainment (e.g. in the cabin on an airplane flight).

Style and form: often realism, perhaps with a reportage-like style, interviews, a rough style, lighting and settings and sound appear natural and not carefully controlled (contrary to smooth and slick lighting, camera movements, montage and continuity of classic Hollywood style). Often an argumentative, exploring or investigative attitude, often thematic more than dramatic.

Relation to major genres and art: it is not fiction, it can be seen as belonging to one of the main genres of rhetoric: judicial, epideictic or political. It may be highly artistic and poetic, but seems more like art with a purpose than art for art’s own sake. Epics, lyrics and drama seem to serve the didactic aspect.

Recordings: on location, authentic settings and props, real-time, real sound, no actors or acting, but actual people (or animals, in nature documentaries) being themselves. Drama and narrative appear not imposed on the scenes, but emerging from the actual (pro-filmic) events.

Editing: the rhetorical structure appears to be more important than ordinary dramatic continuity; the rate of manipulation and rearrangement of picture and sound seems low. A voice-over commentary or text-streaming is more likely than extensive use of non-diegetic music. The mixing of heterogeneous material (e.g. recordings from a different time or location) is accounted for.

Context of viewing or distribution: e.g. the Discovery Channel, educational TV, TV-slots or festivals announced as documentary, educational institutions, films shown within organizations and companies.

Importance and evaluation: In terms of context and communicative qualities, the film makes a considerable contribution towards a better world…

Throughout e very week, I’m gonna pick out selections of documentary films that i totally agree that you sit down and watch. I mean really watch these films as they are told by great storytellers as well as crafted by the finest film directors of yesterday and today and maybe tomorrow’s vision. The context, the quality, the content and the vision plot makes a small feature film just as exciting as a full length motion picture with colossal differences.

Every week I’m going to post on WordPress a film for you to see and then I would like for you to post a comment after you watch it to tell me is there any difference in what you see on the big screen as opposed to small.

THIS WEEK::::This cable-television biography about the life of Illinois senator Barack Obama was made before he began campaigning to be the Democratic party’s candidate for the 2008 presidential race. Still, the program suggests Obama has one or another kind of profound, American destiny as a mixed-race activist who never comfortably fit into one or another group, and had to look deep into his own roots to understand his identity.

Biography: President Barack Obama

The son of a white American mother and black Kenyan father, Obama was abandoned by the latter when he returned to his native country to work for its improvement. Raised by his mother–whom Obama credits with teaching him many of his values – and his grandmother, Obama lived in Hawaii as a child but moved to Indonesia for a few years when his mom remarried. There, Obama saw cyclical poverty and the underlying factors that perpetuate it before returning to Hawaii. Interviews with childhood friends and his sister describe Obama’s restlessness before attending Harvard law school and propelling himself into a life of public service and community activism.

Often accused of lacking enough political experience to qualify him for the White House, Obama comes across in this show as a visionary and experienced consensus-builder who can reach across opposing points of view.

Tupac Amaru Shakur!! What more can I say about the controversial, now legendary innovator music artist of gansta rap that everybody already know!! He forever changed the face of what hip-hop music stood for and made a cultural impact on society somewhere around the world as well as the US!! Afeni, you should be proud of your son here! He is a remembered icon of the black consciousness movement, an icon of all that wants to become poets, artists and rappers and of course whether many people black or white like this man’s demeanor or not, he has been and will always cement himself as a  national treasure for his extraordinary talent. 

Today marks the 39 year of Tupac Shakur’s birth. Fans around the world today will bump his music loud and remember the man who was so much more than just a rapper. Tupac was without a doubt one of the greatest artists ever yet his talent stretched into many other areas including acting.  

“Tupac was never the best rapper in terms of flow or lyrics,” says Mark Anthony Neal, an author and associate professor of black popular culture in Duke University’s African and African-American studies program. “But what enabled him to transcend everybody else in the room was that he had a sense of performance. When Tupac was onstage, in the broad sense, he always knew how to live up to the hype of the crowd — even if it was being wheeled out of the hospital the first time he was shot. He had that flair for the dramatic, which speaks to his real talent: as an actor.” 

Tupac stands as the highest selling rap/hip-hop artist of all-time as listed in the Guinness Book of Records having sold 67 million albums worldwide (mostly posthumously), with 37 million copies in the US alone. He is consistently ranked by peers, fans, music critics and executives in the music industry as the greatest rapper of all time, a hip-hop legend. Representing the ‘Thug Life’ image, Tupac presented a strong sense of hatred and prejudice to his surroundings, growing up with violence and standing for the justice of not only racism in America but the economic struggle of urban politics as presented throughout his musical career. As well as painting this vivid picture, he carried a very real sense of living his every word and persona of the misdirected passion of the ghetto. Shaped by a history of proud Black Panther role models in his upbringing, Tupac’s legacy is immortalized eternally through his extensive catalogue of classic albums still releasing 14 years after his death. 

Controversial birth as it gets: Born into Black Panther Power 

Tupac was born to mother Alice Faye Williams on June 16, 1971. She named him after the last Inca Chief to be murdered by the Spanish conquistadors. The Islamic meaning of Tupac Amaru is ‘Shining Serpent’ and Shakur ‘Thankful to God’. During her 1971 pregnancy to her only son, his mother who changed her name to Afeni Shakur was standing trial as a member of the Panther 21, the group held responsible for the conspiracy to blow up two New York department stores. For this she served jail-time facing a three-year sentence whilst pregnant with him. Acting as her own attorney, she won the verdict and was released one month before Tupac’s birth. Tupac was brought up in very diverse circumstances, not unlike a lot of black youth in the ghettos he never knew his biological father leaving him confused as Afeni was married to Panther activist Lumumba Shakur at the time of her pregnancy. Afeni told ‘Pac his father was either Harlem drug dealer ‘Legs’ or another activist Billy Garland who claimed paternity but rarely undertook fatherly responsibilities. Far better choice than Legs who entered Tupac’s life at the age of 12 and stayed long enough to turn his mother into a crack addict. During this unsettled period he was raised by his stepfather, Dr. Mutulu Shakur who held very strong ties to the civil movement and Black Panther Party. A convicted felon and political prisoner he is the brother of Joanne ‘Assata Shakur’ Chesimard, a civil rights activist who in 1977 was found guilty of murdering a New Jersey state trooper. After escaping from prison two years later with the help of Mutulu who himself was listed on the FBI’s Top Ten list for aiding in the escape of his sister and the attempted robbery of a Brinks armoured van in which two police officers and a security guard were killed. His godfather was the infamous Elmer ‘Geronimo’ Pratt, a high-ranking Black Panther member who was sentenced to life in prison for the convicted murder of a school teacher during an armed robbery in Santa Monica, LA. Tupac naturally had very politically motivated role models however with almost every adult member of his family behind bars this would profoundly affect Tupac’s life. He was given the title of ‘Black Prince’ and forecast to becoming the next leader of the ‘revolution’. Being raised in the black power movement and Black Panther philosophy gave him a very confident and distrusting outlook on society. Tupac lived an impoverished childhood with his mother and half-sister Sekyiwa by Dr. Mutulu Shakur. With Afeni’s boyfriend and Pac’s early father-figure Legs on the scene Afeni found herself addicted to crack-cocaine and with her two children was living unsettled between homeless shelters and moderately priced accommodations around Brooklyn and South Bronx of New York City, Tupac found it hard to retain any standing friendships and lived through writing poetry and diary entries as encouraged by his mother to stay out of trouble as well as being educated by Panther elders. By the age of 12 Tupac was enrolled in a Harlem theatre group and subsequently cast in Lorraine Hansberry’s ‘A Raisin in the Sun’ as Travis. He was also exposed to professor Cornel West’s work as well by his mother. This interest had never left ‘Pac as he continued studying theatrical acting later as a teenager in Baltimore. Before their move in ’84 Legs was arrested on credit card fraud and died a short time after of a strong drug overdose. This eternally put young Tupac in an emotional spin. It took him three months to let out a tear and when he did he cried out, “I miss my daddy.” Afeni moved her family away from everything, out to Baltimore, Maryland. Thus the Legend of Tupac is born.

A real natural talent from New York and remembered as a very gifted student by his teachers, Tupac carried an outspoken racial equality belief. He was an enthusiastic reader, reading books on eastern religions and philosophy. He had a love of literature and a strong will to learn. Tupac showed a very different side with his peers acting with bravado. It was this influence that fed Tupac with a new passion for rapping.

So you make the decision, is she black or white!! She obviously looks white and sings black!!! hmmm?!?!

Honestly, she’s one of the few Caucasian female singer who can interpreted the R&B songs with such a remarkable way! That’s why, I admired this lady very much! It happens to everyone: You, Me, Mom, Dad, the little boy, the old puppy, even your 88 year old grandma has those two choices in life to decide. Yet we’re bounded by the foregoing conclusion that we could just simply do the one simple thing that’s been passed on by generation to generation to generation. And the funny thing is that no one wants to or even tries to follow this method!!

WALKING!! Just walk somewhere, anywhere so you can get that rejuvenating energy, feeling and looking great!! But my point is: why is most people worldwide is not doing that anymore. A real easy, free no-cost, short walks of life will greatly increase your chances of a greater life span.

Walking helps build endurance, enhance muscletone, increase joint flexibility, and strengthen bones. Regular walking contributes to weight loss, which in turn helps prevent or control heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and other diseases.

Reasons for a typial walk in the park for you either young or old::

You know, once again I’ve come across negativity as if there’s not much of it in this world!! You do what you can to have your place in this world and then “darkness falls across the land”- by Vincent Price of Thriller Album.

The thing I noticed about people who are considered homeless and vagabonds is that were you put in that position by no choice, or was it that you took it upon yourself and say, “The hell with the world, I’m just not gonna do anything anymore.” Now according to statistics, about 35% (say roughly between 350,000 and 7,000,000) of the US are in some way shape or form don’t have a place to live and are out in the streets trying to survive.

Approximately 25% of homeless people does not have a job and 60% has a job; moreover, 54% of homeless people gets some money which, however, is not enough. Not all people who are unemployed are looking for jobs and although the precise figure is not available, some homeless people, who do not want to work, think that getting money without working is the best way of living.

What can be the causes of this strange and deadly “past time?”  Several reasons:

Alcoholism and drug abuse (chemical dependency)

Alcoholism is also a major cause of homelessness. 50% of all homeless is a ‘single’ adult who has a drug or alcohol problem, but it is not the only cause of homelessness. Alcoholism also contributes to unemployment. For example, more than 85% of alcoholic homeless men had not been employed for at least 6 months, and neither had 79% of nonalcoholic homeless men. This means that, regardless of sex, to get a job is more difficult for alcoholic homeless people than nonalcoholic homeless people; therefore, alcoholic homeless people get money from illegal activities. many drug and alcohol abusers never become homeless, but people who are poor and addicted are clearly more tend to become homeless.

Mental Illness
About one-third of the single adult homeless population suffers from some kind of severe and persistent mental illness. According to the National Resource Center on Homelessness and Mental Illness, “at least a half of mentally ill homeless people are daily diagnosed with an alcohol or drug problem. But according to the Federal Task Force on Homelessness and Severe Mental Illness, “Only 5-7% of homeless persons with mental illness needs to be institutionalized”, so mental illness is not the major cause of homelessness.

So here’s my question:

Why do so many more men than women end up on the streets?

1.Life on the streets, as dangerous as it is for men, is even more dangerous for women, who are far more vulnerable. While many men in trouble drift almost naturally onto the streets, women do anything they can to avoid it.

2. there are proportionally far more private and public  shelters and services available to women.

3. Women are accustomed to asking for help while men are not, and women make better use of available resources.

4. Poor families in economic extremis seem to practice a form of triage. Men are released into the streets more readily, while women are kept at home even in the worst of circumstances.

5. There are cultural and perhaps genetic factors at work. There is some evidence that men–especially in adolescence–are more aggressive and openly rebellious than women and harder to socialize. Or it may be that men are allowed to live out impulses that women are taught to suppress, and they therefore end up more often in trouble.

More important, still, may be the question of work. Traditionally, the kinds of work associated with transient or marginal life have been reserved for men. They brought in crops, worked on ships and docks, built roads and railroads, logged and mined. Such labor granted them a place in the economy while allowing them to remain on society’s edges–an option rarely available to women save through prostitution.

The same attitude is with us still. When men work (or when they go to war–work’s most brutal form), we grant them a right to exist. But when work is scarce, or when men are of no economic use, then they become in our eyes not only superfluous, but also a danger. We feel compelled to exile them, to drive them away to shift for themselves in more or less the same way that the Puritans, in their city on a hill, treated sinners and rebels.

One wonders how far back such attitudes go. One thinks of the Bible and the first disobedience in the garden, when women were cursed with child-birth and men with labor–the destinies still assigned by the welfare system and our private attitudes.

So you tell me there’s no such thing as determination, huh! And in many ways I’m against the idea that you just give up!! Is it just the people you associate with or is it you that’s associating with that type of people. Think now!!

Well to conclude on this touchy subject. Chris Gardner came from poverty to the goldmine with his ingenious for stock broking (for those of you don’t who he is, watch the movie, “The Pursuit of Happyness” starring Will Smith!” and even The great Tyler Perry came from sleeping in his car to one of the richest most powerful black men in America. So yes, there are success stories out there.

So is it in your to look at him or her one day to decide to ask why or to give out to them. Because I can tell you one thing, it could very, very well be you there also. But only if you allow it!! So love us all and let’s not judge others! Would you judge me?

I DIDN’T THINK SO!!

Building self-confidence is probably a lot easier than you think. And when we say self-confidence, we mean having the assurance to deal with problems and stressful situations without fear and insecurity; being able to handle stressful situations and to resist the pressure and dominance of excessively dominant people. Self-confidence will help you take more control over situations that are important to you.

Most people are simply not naturally assertive. “Bully’s” and excessively dominant people were not trained to be that way – they are merely allowing their own insecurities to rule them and push them to do things in terribly harsh ways. Having self-confidence is something entirely different from being domineering. Pity the “bully” and move on.   

We all can make a conscious decision to have a positive outlook about life. Negativity is nothing more than a bad habit. So make having a positive outlook a good habit! It is well worth the effort. You’ll not only be able to cope better, you will be all the happier for doing so. You can have control over the negative things in your life. Your life does not have to be unfair. Did u know that a positive outlook can even improve your health!

I mean I can go on and on and discuss about the satisfaction about self confidence but just keep in mind that when you hit that state of mind you will know and feel when that pressure goes down and brings you to a calm sense of tranquility. But the most important thing is just maintaining that level for the duration. So let’s stay positive and assertive so we can try to make a difference to ourselves and the world.

Over a period of time, the sense of complacency sets in the mind when things are in order the way you want them to. Or so it seems. In other words, that’s where the beginning of things to come will pour on you in a negative way. So what do you do about it? Prepare yourself for it to come, or when it instantly appears to you, just sit there and panic like a deer on the road and not move? Of course not! You do something about it when you can! And see that’s all in the wrong right there!!! When you can, not so much when u should’ve, could’ve or even could’ve.

Just like Hurricane Katrina in 2005. You see, no one knew when that big boy was coming and that was just the beginning of it. No preparation as well as no commitment of the levees down below the Gulf of Mexico was even thought of. Oh well, ain’t nothing gonna happen to us if it didn’t happen for that long. It was a tragedy for the public as well as the world over, just like the condition in Haiti, but again you have to ask yourself. What would’ve been done if, just if, in case I knew something was going to destroy my environment as I know it?

Now look what we facing? The oil spill crisis!! I mean no one and i mean no one saw this coming for miles. So much that it is so down below the waters that human life can’t even go there to stop it!! That alone is frightening. As it’s more poilitcal than factual to stop that problem—-you gotta ask yourself??? Is it worth all that oil spilling over the gulf like that so the fish can die and the natural resource as we know it–water is now dirty??? Hmmmm? What could’ve been done with THIS disasters along with others that could’ve been–listen—could’ve been prevented to start with.

All we can do is pray for the best outcome of this. But at the same token, we need to stop procrastinating about what’s to come and get prepared for the worse. Then that way our minerals, resources, the environment, the economy and finally a sense of relief over urgency can truly and definitively become complacent as we know our homeland to be.

It’s quite simple, make a plan B in case the first thought is misconceived or proven wrong. I love my homeland too much to be prepared for anything.

 Now being a former veteran myself, I would have to admit that I’m so proud to fight and serve for my country back in 1994 in Somalia as well as a tour in Port-au-Prince, Haiti! Those were times that politics outweighed the consistencies of which we were down in those third world countries fighting for. I got shot in the elbow, just a minor graze, but nevertheless, I’m so proud of what circumstance that was caused for. That scar reminds me of how tough, and resistant the human spirit can become when times of danger.

 As far as the people who died or got killed in action, my love, peace and my blessings are for you and your families alike. Life is so precious that people ought to take a second look on the outcome of politics, war, and peace as we believe it to be!! God bless the troops as well as the veterans dead or alive, wartime or peacetime.

 So when you enjoy that BBQ chicken or pork with the bread or drinking the light beer and relaxing in the hot sun, remember one thing. It’s not just about celebrating the dead who gave us the opportunity to enjoy days as such, but the continuity and the precise maintainability to preserve and to keep the country fresh, beautiful and existent for many generations to come. I’m just proud once again to say, “I’m free and I’m so proud of enjoying it.”

 That’s why instant wins or success doesn’t work!! Though there are people that love the easy way out of a research or a jam to find results.

 Then that’s where the psychological mindset of thinking to do ‘other things’ to get away and to get ahead in which we know it’s wrong! Cheating, plagarizing, stealing and lying! Then that’s where the credibility of an idea is of question! Just a warning! Please be careful who you give your ideas to regardless of who they are how smart they seem to be!!

Well it’s Monday the 22^nd of March and I feel like talking about a particular topic that expresses a passion of my soul well as that vision of spirit. Ever since I was a child, the book or television has always been a “way out” of what’s really been happening in the world behind me.

 But as I got older in life, I made a commitment to myself to really focus on the aspects of how and why the world is as omnipresent and to research that. And believe it or not I usually find it in books. So, I was a bookworm and let me tell you, it’s an unbelievable experience that catapults you in another world outside where you’re located in front of your chair.

I mean I read every book (children’s book at least) that you can imagine linking towards artists such as The Brothers Grimm, Hans Christen Andersen, Dr. Seuss, to name a few. Topics such as animals talking, cars with drivers, pets on adventure, magical sorcery, big red dog (you all know that one!!) and I was in nostalgia because I believed that it pretty much related to everyone in society. But yet I was still missing that value or that mean to actually seeing what I was reading. In other words, I wanted to be what I read.

Hence, the television set. Now programming in the late 70’s going into the 80’s was so unique and popular that I actually believed and put faith in what I saw in cartoons. Keep in mind I was not in my teens yet, but flying houses, flying cars, talking rabbits, etc. was really amazing. Then a wonderful experience was beginning to induce secrete my mind forever.

I was watching what’s called T.V. movies and suddenly it wasn’t cartoonish anymore. For the first time in my life, I seen real people on the T.V. just like I’ve seen people in the real world. And I don’t mean a conversation and playing in yards and driving cars to stores. That was real in itself. But I’ve seen what’s called action, drama, killing, struggles, crimes, all of which takes place in the world as we know it today.  Was I caught up in the emotions that was surrounding what was called real life back? Of course, I was!! very much involved? And I wanted to do something about it??

So, as the years  went by, I start watching movies, films, T.V. shows more and more to get a glimpse and to know that the world I used to live in is not that anymore. A lot has changed, some for the good, others for the worse. But even as a little child, I knew deep in my spirit that I can create anything I wanted to and make it believable just like those Grimm Brothers and Dr. Seuss.  And I got older, I wanted to create genre on that T.V. screen and the theatres just like the filmmakers of yesterday and today and of tomorrow.

So I made up in my mind to venture my passion in my one chance of life that the good Lord has given me. And that passion is to write movie screenplays and make a novel so I can foster and present to the world the fruits of knowledge and tell a real story. I want to also one day make a feature film about society, life as we know it and the issues and values that we can learn from as a whole. Actually, in 2004, I did just that. Followed my dream by making a short film called, “The Bama Opportunist” in which I did write, directed and produced. And it was an amazing lesson to be learned.  This was done after I finished my film class at the University of Alabama school of Telecommunications and film department.

So there you have it, my dream is shared to you people who reads my messages. And you know what, it’s no secret to me that I still have this childhood dream to one day accomplished.

As I discover more and more of WordPress, I’m going to dedicate the majority of blogging towards that passion of mine which is films and writing. So you may can call this my writing and film workshop, so to speak. So very often as I blog, I’m going to touch a title of a film and its meaning towards life. I like award-winning films and the writing artifice towards making such a film.

Finally, I believed that when you really wish and want something so bad that you’ll give up your usual for that one chance, then it will come to your possession and you will cherish it forever.

Paul Hardcastle

This is the first weekend’s edition of my blogging experience. Every weekend I will usually focus on two entities or/and experiences on the same blog. So much happens on weekends a lot of people don’t realize!! 

 First, I want to thank first, Mr. Paul Hardcastle for adding me to his blogroll for purposes of relationship amongst ourselves. I so much adore his jazz music in which I recommend everyone check out if you ever look him up. This is a music legend from London, England who revolutionized modern and contemporary jazz forever worldwide, even in the United States. I also share a communication with his lovely talented daughter, Miss Maxine Hardcastle, who is also a D.J. in London. Her voice is amazing as well as her looks. She’s already released a couple of songs and I’m begging for more of her talent to come. And of course, father has to have a Jr. by his side. Paul Hardcastle Jr. looks and is to believe to be equal to his predecessor father on every level. Can’t wait to see him. I’m telling you internet world: Nothing against Boney James, Najee, and even Kenny G.; you’ve never been in a Paul Hardcastle world until you hear his music. By far, the best JAZZ music I’ve ever heard (19, Rainforest, King Tut, Puerto Banus, First Light …) I can go on and on but just so you know here the man’s genius and creativity. All I got to say bout that!!  

Then, me and my friend Melissa went on YouTube.com last night and saw clips of one legendary R&B funk master Rick James’s last appearances. You know, of course, that was at the 2004 BET Awards hosted by future Oscar winner Mo’nique. How can we not forget the passion and swagger that “Slick Rick” had along with his singing partner, another R&B icon Teena Marie, singing “Fire and Desire” in front of the live audience that was all standing. All eyes pointed at the “Superfreak” and Teena as their segments included presenting Beyonce a BET award. But of course, in “a la Rickesque” tradition, he had to put in a last word, so to speak. Obviously, someone in the backstage either didn’t  recognize him or who he was, let it be known that he DEFINITELY PROCLAIMED HIMSELF in a statement that simply read: 

“To the lady backstage, I want to make it perfectly clear……Never mind who you thought I was, I’M RICK JAMES, BITCHHH!!!” 

Wow, everyone was on their feet in jovial form and yelling and screaming in either laughter or in excitement. Again, all eyes were on Slick Rick for the last time, months later he passed away. 

To describe what this R&B icon, has contribute in the music industry would take three of four blogs. Maybe more!! But all I’m going to comment about Mr. James is that your music stands the test of time for a lot of people, young and old. You truly left an indelible mark in my life as I was growing up in those back roads in Alabama in the 1970’s. He came from troubled beginnings as much as we all did. But he turned a negative integer and turned it into a very positive experience with his talent and his love to music. I guarantee somewhere in this world today, there’s a Rick James love song in someone’s music player and they’re either dancing or being intimate in a place. (Fire and Desire, Mary Jane, Glow, Moonchild, Happy, etc…) His music, as well as his passion, will live on, just like it did in the 1970’s and 80’s. 

Rick, I love you and I miss you’re energy to make us feel good about ourselves. You live by your music!

Well bloggers, internet browsers, fans of the medium known as the internet, I watched a very interesting show on VH1 today called The best of the ’80′s. Now what’s so amazing about the show is the idea, time, preparation and formality the VH1 producers put to have the viewers relate to a time where we will never ever see again, but the memory for that era to possess in our minds a great nostalgia in which “that’s where we belonged and always will.”

Now I’m not going to go into details on what we missed in the 1980′s such as the invention of Pac-Man, Rubix Cube, Breakdancing, Rock groups, Michael Jackson, Ronald Regan, Wacky Walkwalkers, the movie Gremlins, etc, etc,etc,. Too much in detail to engross but just the memories of the 1980′s are just breathtaking to me that I want to be in a time machine to go back there obviously. Man!!!

And that also goes to the 1990′s because that’s where I really got my real-life experience as a boy turning to a man and boy, again, I would love to go back there as well. I’ ve see and lived experiences I never ever seen before in my life.

Then the 2000′s arrived, a new millennium, new style, new way of life, technology, new fashions, fads and drama combined with tragedy of our nation’s soil.

And how can we not forget the impact of the era that started it all, the 1960′s, which is a pivotal time in all our lives young and old. Civil rights, revolution, sports, entertainment, and many more. The 1970′s will also put us in a innovating time where we were just beginning to witness a major shift in daily lives, economic issues,  

I mean really a lot has happened in my lifetime that after careful thought and brainstorming, I’ve really put a lot of thought into this idea. Starting next week, Monday rather, I’m going to dedicate a day of blogging toward a period of time and to hit a unique subject matter of that period that everyone should observe and post your comments if necessary.

Now I may or may not start this on Monday on the 22 of March on every other day but at least twice a week, but not necessarily everyday, I’m dedicating this conscience towards the eras, the attitudes as well as anything in retrospective starting with the 1960′s. so I have to thank VH1 and all other valuable resources with this great concept that I, Curtis, would like to share with the most part of my inner circle, if not the whole internet world.

 So get in gear and get ready to get back in time with just about everything that made history. 

I just wanna make history on the blog! That’s all!!

I helped this gentleman up from the road where he collapsed at. I mean in the middle of a busy two-lane highway heading towards Greensboro Avenue. As soon as I helped him across the road he thanked me and we said a prayer together and he went his way. Then as soon as I turn around, a car accident happened where I was almost hit head toward the front of the white BMW. No, I didn’t get hurt, but lucky the driver that almost hit me didn’t either because the other driver who hit him hit the passenger side. In other words, At any given time, luck could be on your shoulder no matter how much good deed you do or how much money you give away or how  many lives you saved. St. Patrick’s Day came to me one day late to be lucky.

Bottom line:  just be very careful whenever you help people if you’re not too focused on helping yourself first. Because as soon as you’re too blind on what you need to be focused on, then disaster strikes and then….. get the picture!!

Again just be careful!!!
